Golden Age of Adventurers
Known as the City of Progress, Elidem is home to many wizards and alchemists who want advance knowledge… Often at any cost. While the majority of people adhere to the laws of Elidem, it has a reputation for reckless research because of the lax punishment.
The current mayor is Quipswitch Quillenhollow, a gnome who used to run experiments in Elidem before being mayor. Quipswitch is a forgetful fellow, but has a kind and adventurous heart; on top of this, he has no desire to be mayor (which he has no qualms mentioning to anyone who cares). He stepped in when the city asked, after the last mayor mysteriously disappeared.
A prominent feature of Elidem are the Towers of Progress; these spires in the south of town are the laboratories in which characters of all kind rent space and labor to conduct research in all matters alchemical and arcane. As an unfortunate byproduct, the Tallow river, which winds through the towers, contains a large number of reagents and waste (and the occasional “flushed” subject). Citizens of the nearby hovel will sometimes brave the sludge to look for valuable items, but many find less than they hope, or more than they bargain for.
